Dear Mom,
You still look down to step around me. You still save me the last bite. You still wake up and reach across the bed for me at night.
I know. I see you doing it. Don’t stop until you’re through. There is no timetable for this. I’d wait the same for you.
My legs are young and strong again. Nothing hurts, and I can run. I found a patch of grass that’s warm and lay down in the sun.
You gave me all your ordinary days, the naps, the rain, the floor. I had the best life any dog could have. I couldn’t have asked for more.
P.S. “She stole my side of the bed every single night.” Yes. That was me.
Love, always,
Daisy
